The Red & Black Rivalry Issue

Problem:

In The Red & Black’s special edition Rivalry Issue, the writers dive deep into the long history between the flagship universities of Georgia and Florida. There were few high-quality, relevant photos in the paper’s archives, and the usable ones were taken decades apart, which made finding cohesive visuals to accompany the stories a challenge.

Solution:

Supplement The Red & Black archives with photos from Hargrett Library UGA archives. Print and hand-cut photos to collage and scan. Once digitized again, place on page and apply red quadrilateral behind. This unified all of the visually distinct images by giving them common threads in their collage appearance and red accent motif.

Print Edition

In a collaboration with the student newspaper at the University of Florida, The Independent Alligator, the Red & Black looks into the history between the two schools.
