COVID-19: Impact on UGA & Athens
In March 2020, students at the University of Georgia left for spring break and didn’t return until August. In the midst of the confusion, The Red & Black temporarily suspended its print editions. Coverage of the stay-at-home orders, business closures, and updates from the university landed on redandblack.com/coronavirus.
The editorial team published one print edition after March during the spring semester of 2020, on which I worked as Art Director. It spanned eight pages and contained no ads, as nearly every business who bought ad space was now closed with no certain reopen in sight. To throw another wrench in the process, the staff was scattered around the state and the country, so planning and production happened remotely for the first time.
